...it would overwrite the other. But now SG has this mess of an interface where they just tile all of your recent blogs. Since that's the case, rather than do the old photodump style of blog after every trip, I'll just post a couple pics every day/few days or so. It's kinda nice since I don't feel overwhelmed and have to spend 5 hours pounding out a blog or...wind up procrastinating it for weeks.
So these are some highlight pics from Kauai. And since I got back, I took my friend to San Diego Safari Park and we're also going to San Diego Zoo (which I found out I've never been, all of the times it was SDSP when I was a kid, and not the Zoo so it will be my first time yay!) Needless to say if I don't start posting I'll be WAY behind.
There are two things you need to see to know you're in Kauai. One is the gecko. Caught this guy in our condo...let it go outside. :D
I noticed this time around there were a lot of these flowers around...exact same structure but different colors. Right outside the front door of the condo were these solid yellow ones blooming. The whole complex had this amazing sweet smell when you drove in at night.
We visited a lil' light house. As you can see the weather was very nice.
And on my very first underwater photography mission, my first time snorkeling in over 20 years...I run in to this wild turtle. The shell was about 5 feet long making the guy almost as long as I am tall. Only myself and my dad saw this guy before he headed back to deep sea. As you can see, his shell is sharp edged so he's lived a nice long life, hasn't taken a lot of hard knocks. His tail alone was about 9 inches long. I spent about 15 minutes with this guy, swimming with him, touching his head, fins, shell. I didn't grab on to him because turtles breath air and if you hang on, they can drown very easily. But I did touch his tail and when I did, it curled into a banana shape and it jetted back into deep water, haha.
Anyways, that was special. This wasn't some turtle bay or some small, hand-holdable creature...it was big, magnificent and rare. (Green sea turtle)
