Awesome weekend roundup!
Friday night: Drag myself home, tired and miserable from a day both on-campus and at work (I try to never do this and now I remember why; the left-brain, right-brain shift can really take it out of you). Sit in front of the computer and start to force out very bad prose until I get a message from one of the amazing women I'm lucky enough to know, wherein she invites me around for dinner, drinks and DVDs. I accept gratefully, get changed and head over, stopping for snacks on the way. Her company is divine, the dinner is excellent, gin is delicious and the conversation is just so damned good that the DVDs, even when I left at 2am, had not been touched. Awesome!
Saturday night: Left house mid-afternoon to meet up with another awesome girlfriend (in a laundromat of all places), en route to watching a mutual awesome girlfriend perform at a local hotspot. Enjoyed quiet afternoon drinks with a host of awesome friends while savouring the sweet, sweet sounds of a gorgeous girl with a guitar in her hands and the voice of an angel. Was swept along in a tide of awesomeness that washed a group of us, starving and rowdy, upon the doorstep of a lovely Chinese resturant. Delicious dinner and great company ensued. Then it was time to part ways and go catch a movie with yet another awesome girlfriend (I really am blessed). Her and I and Angelina Jolie. Oh sweet bliss. And the movie was pretty friggin awesome too (if you haven't already, go see Wanted!). Hit a nearby bar to pay respect to a friend at work and wound up dancing wildly to bad 80s and 90s pop for a few hours. Scored a free pint. Accepted an offered lift back to the original watering hole which led me to catch up with seldom seen friends. Exuberance and a little too much drink led me to broach the question of a date with quite the little bundle of attractiveness, which was, to my surprise, accepted. I'm taking her to see Wanted on Wednesday. Staggered home in the wee small hours full of too much liquour but pretty damned happy with the evening.
Tonight: Spent most of the day trying to outsleep my hangover (it won), then got up and forced myself reluctantly through some uni work. Went shopping for essentials and came home to find the living areas of our house rearranged and a hearty meal on the cook. Awesome Housemates were kind enough to feed the starving student and, I must say, the steak was perfection. More great food and awesome company.
It was just that sort of weekend, nothing but good food and great people
(and a hangover, true, but Newton said it best with 'For every action...')
