OK. I have just seen, hands down, one of the best stage productions I have ever been privileged to witness.
I went tonight, with some awesome friends, to see Drum Tao rock the QPAC concert hall and rock it they did! I've never seen a show get, over the course of the evening, three standing ovations before the final bow! These people are amazing!
For those that aren't sure, Drum Tao are a Taiko (Japanese Festival Drumming) troupe. And they are truly spectacular. I've seen an Australian Taiko troupe called TaikOz many times, and even studied the art with them for a while when I was in Sydney, but, as much as I dearly love TaikOz (and hope to do an apprenticeship with them when I finish my degree) Drum Tao make them almost look like amateurs... These guys (and kawaii girls, too!) are performing taiko for all it's worth. They're not just playing the drums and giving you traditional sounds, they are literally bouncing off the boundaries of all the art has to offer, including incorporating insane skills, dance, humour and some pretty deadly looking martial arts action into the show.
Unfortunately they only did the one show in Bris-vegas, so the nearest of my dearest have missed out now, but, for those of you interstate, keep your eyes peeled and, if you can catch the show in your town, I HIGHLY recommending doing so. You'll not have seen anything like it and you'll never forget it!
FUCKING WOW!

In response to your comment on my blog: Whoa! I haven't heard Catatonia in aaaaages! I used to have one or two of their CDs but I don't have them in their iTunes! That's how long!
Still: It's all over the front page, you give me road rage!
