I want to share with you one of the most relevant and insightful lectures Ive had the pleasure to experience in many a year.

It was delivered at this years Andrew Olle Media Lecture by broadcaster, actor and screenwriter John Doyle, (possibly better known to Australians as "Rampaging Roy Slaven).

The Lecture, by definition, addresses the role and future of the media, a topic becoming...

Serendipitous shit happens to Sway and I all the time

Last night for example, grabbed a few DVDs to augment the evenings uninspiring free-to-air line-up. Sway grabbed an older movie, one wed never seen nor heard of, called Intacto. It looked interesting, so we hired it, along with a few others.

We watched one of the other movies last night (Crash), and instead of watching...

I don't seem to function well before sunset. I sleep late(ish) and upon waking proceed to stagger through the remainder of the day in a state which could accurately be described as semi-conscious. But then, miraculously, at sundown (or thereabouts) I come into myself again, feeling awake and alert all of a sudden.
This is a condition which has plagued me for as long as...

I am impressed to read that during the 1760's a man named James Cox built a perpetual motion machine in the form of a self-winding clock.
The mechanism uses changes in atmospheric pressure, harnessed via a mercury barometer, to wind itself indefinitely.
The clock still exists in the Victoria and Albert Museum of Great Britain, although it is no longer active.

Apparently the universe is going to end on December 21st, 2012. This 'fact' has been verified by numerous esoteric sources.
So don't make any plans...
minceir:
It doesn't have to end if it doesn't want to. biggrin

I learned that some people, while impotent to change the rhythm of the machine, still refuse to go quietly into the night.
I learned that politics can infect and affect even the apolitical.
I learnt of anothers passion only after it was near to broken.
I learned that I have a lot...

Some interesting facts for those who care to know:

The modern world has the Catholic church and the drug Hashish to thank for the commonly used term Assassin. During the 11th Century Crusades against heathens, the Church Knights came against an army of drug crazed heretics who became know as Hassassins (The Followers of Hashish).

Interestingly, the term heretic is derived from the Latin word...

Let's split me open at the seams...
And rip out everything inside
Make room for all these new machines...
Sew me up and pray that I survive.
A brand new me

I love Google Earth.
I just made a comprehensive tour of the locations of SG's across the globe (including a special place just for the 'Lost' SG's)
If you' use GE and would like it, let me know and I'll email the file to you.
steven:
There could be something a little bit ... creepy ... about that wink
