Yay, the UPS man brought my new parabolic lighting modifier yesterday. New toys are always fun! So tonight I got to spend some time playing with my parabola......that sounds kind of dirty. 
Let me say that differently. Tonight at Bork Laboratories, we did some scientific testing of a new way to modify light.
Due to the large diameter of the parabola (it measures 6'3" in diameter) I was concerned about only having an 8' ceiling. However, by placing the light source at a height of 4' 11", there were still 4" clearance between the top of the parabola and the ceiling. Cutting it close there!!
Meter readings were encouraging and in my few test shots, I really liked the quality of light. Currently, my largest modifiers are 40" brollys, so having something that measures over 6 feet is really going to come in handy.
