A lesson in history.
Now find me an non-believer who "gathered the troops" and decided it was a good idea to kill people. I am not talking about the bad apples. Every group of people has their own bit of crazy. I'm talking about someone who marched under the flag of non-belief claiming their non-belief told them it was a good idea to kill people.
And if you mention Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or Kim Jong-il you are only showing how little you know, and you need to explain to people how "i don't believe in god" or "I am against religion" translates to "lets go hurt people". Just in case you where not aware of this before, atheism is not a religion. Here, let me help you out again.
religion |ri--lijən|
noun
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods : ideas about the relationship between science and religion.
details of belief as taught or discussed : when the school first opened they taught only religion, Italian, and mathematics.
a particular system of faith and worship : the world's great religions.
Thats funny, I do not see anything in there that calls non-belief a religion. That is sort of the opposite of what it describes actually. So now we know Atheism is not a religion. How again can it be attributed as the cause of Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, or Kim Jong-il's actions? Oh thats right. It can't. Because Atheism does not tell you to do anything at all. It is just a word used to describe something. A it means is that a person does not believe in god. I guess maybe we should just go back to holding those people accountable for what they did and chalk them up to just being crazy.
Again i ask you to find me a free thinking atheist or non-believer type that got a lot of people to go kill a lot of other people.
