I learned something new today. And no I did not learn to spell, I am still horrible at that.
I downloaded firefox and adium to my pretty new mack and I thought I had installed em correctly. Somebody come spank the silly new mac user. Apparently what I was doing was pretty much like running those old computers that you use to have to reload the operating system every time you reset. That was basically my problem. When I would reset my computer I would have to reload aidum and firefox. So i banged my head on a couple of walls and the started scouring the internets. I found that to keep your programs around you have to copy the programs to your apps folder. I did this by doublehummping(thats what I think am going to call clicking from now on because clicking just does not sound sexy enough for my mac.) the downloaded .dmg file and then dragging the icon of the app I wanted, in this case firefox and adium, into my applications folder. Holy wow. It did some coping shit that i hardly payed attention too, and now i have icons for adium and firefox in my apps folder just like i wanted. *does a naked happy dance* If you already knew how to do that dont start getting your hopes up. I am still cooler than you. Its just that I missed the day in school when somebody explained what a mac was. Which after getting my own mac i think should be mandatory for all schools. There should be a screw microsoft, go mac class. I dunno why i did not make the switch sooner, but if anyone ever sees me trying to by a regular old pc again please promptly hit me with the biggest pan in your kitchen. Ohh and adium is a nifty chat program thingy that connects to all sorts of different chat services like yahoo and msn messenger. I need to go play with this machine more though because I have yet to attain my goal of becoming my own superpower and i am pretty sure that apple's mac book pro can help me. Peace out a-town.
