I slept all damn weekend and when i got to work today I was SO exhausted that I couldn't wait until 10 am for coffee; I had to start with it right away.

Dave wanted to show me how to handle billing and I was in no mood to sit and watch ANYTHING, so he gave me sales orders to enter and, inbetween the activity, I managed to updated my Livejournal (see link below), but couldn't manage to wake up.

I take lunch and eat Shrimp Fried Rice. When I come back, my nasal passage gets hella stuffed and I cannot breathe. Not only am I MORE exhausted than I was before lunch, but now I'm beginning to feel sick. Dave tries to explain the billing to me, but we get distracted by people who want other things and at one point I just had to run out of the room and blow my nose. I was having a VERY hard time getting through today.

Dave and I decide to leave early because everything else is done, and he starts talking about his sessions with his therapist. Yes, at one point he had to see a therapist; I'm as surprised as you are. He talked about how he and his therapist used to discuss how there were two intelligence levels.

The low level was the lizard brains, the people who could only set their minds on one mode and could not waver. These people don't have the capability to understand deeper thought, like WHY they were doing what they were doing, why things exist, what was right and wrong with the world and what we can do about it, etc. These people have one-track minds. Most people, right up to and including the President of the United States, are lizard brains, and most of the idiots we work with are lizard brains.

The next level up are intelligent people, people who want to understand the world, who see the subtext in their lives. They see the things not out in the open, think about things, wonder about things, try to improve things, or at least ponder them. Dave thinks we both fall into this category, and despite his neuroses, I'd have to say he is right.

We set up a table in my office, where we will handle all the billing, get a key for the office and lock the door. We even leave a nasty note on the door window for all to see. It reads: DO NOT REMOVE ANY PAPERWORK FROM THIS OFFICE.

I came home and, while cooking a meal, run into April's mother, who is in town to visit for 3 weeks from Turkey. April's mother was also my 7th grade reading teacher, and when I was good friends with April's brother, I also got to see a lot of their mother, so we know each other reasonably well. We talked about my recent troubles with the UNLV Engineering Department and the incompatibility of their school schedule with any work schedules, and she expressed disgust with EVERY college department in EVERY school. Her disgust with teh educational system in this country is supremem, and part of the reason she retired and just decided to live in Turkey.

And now here it is, this journal entry. Discuss.
