hey, it's me, sativa's creepily inactive roommate...
i have a story for you, the first in a likely long list of adventures involving the jeep vs. the po-po's...
so penn state football has been 5-0 this season, which is amazing considering the past few years we've sucked ass. last night we played ohio state, who always tends to hand us our asses on a tray. the stadium had over 109,000 people in it (which i think is a record). we won. 17-10. the town (which literally doubles in population during football weekends) was freaking crazy. there were riot police literally lining both sides of the main road, trying to keep everything under control...
so me and a few friends thought it'd be a good idea to drive up and down that street in the jeep with the top off, yelling and honking and getting the crowd worked up. it was grand. the crowd loved it. the police didn't. they literally surrounded the jeep and told me that if they saw me again, they would arrest me and charge me with disorderly conduct...
they didn't know that the jug of "iced tea" in the back seat was actually beer and that the girl in the passenger seat that had been drinking it was under 21. that could have been interesting too. fuggit. we didn't care. it was an amazing night.
so yeah, i'm pretty proud of myself. i'm sure i'm inadequate compared to the stories of many of the awesome members of this site, but being singled out and surrounded by fully armoured riot police is kinda a new thing for me. i'm happy.
on a side note, i've finally purchased an old rusted out piece of junk 1974 VW standard beetle. this will be my project car for the next few years (or few decades, whichever) as it is slowly transformed from the pile of puppy dung it is to a highly sophisticated off-road racing machine. that's right, i'm making a baja bug. and it will be the greatest baja bug the world has ever seen. or it will at least turn a few heads.
i need everybody here to keep bugging me and sativa for updates, as that will help me stay motivated on the project AND keep me documenting my progress RIGHT HERE on SG. and perhaps that will keep me from being the creepily inactive sg roommate. as much pride as i take in that, i think perhaps i'll fade back to my old title of "resident bottomfeeder". we shall see.

Good luck making the bettle, a worthy project it sounds.
I liked the glimpse into game night and was suitably impressed with the crowd turnout. The cash that must be involved.
Keep well
