I've just watched a re-run of Neville Shute's On the Beach on TV. It never dates and I believe we should all watch it now and again. In fact I would make Shute's book and all the other volumes which spell out man's potential madness to be compulsory
on all school curriculumn throughout the world. The Cold War may be more or less over but the risk has certainly not gone away.
But it's no good burrying our heads in the sand and saying there's nothing we can do about it. Some how we've got to overcome political apathy and vote in politicians with a sense of responsibility. And if you don't think there are any find some among yourselves.
