I've been "mining" my CDs and I'm finding I've got really good taste in music
.
Ferinstance, Anybody ever hear of the Tartan Amoebas? Apparently they've changed their style abit but the CD I've got (the eponymously named "Tartan Amoebas" ) is this weird celtic/memphis soul mix - mostly celtic but there's def. a nod to booker t with horns. It's pretty cool.
And if you like early REM you should check out The Connells, who apparently have just released a new cd I think I'm gonna pick up. Anyway, the CD I have is Boylan Heights, which is just some cool North Carolina pop stuff. If you check out their website, there's a really cool cover of Jethro Tull's "Living in the Past" you can download.
Finally, I found my Charlatan UK album - lots of cool organ driven music. Nice stuff.
I'll be heading down to my parent's house this weekend for my dad's birthday - of course I'll be haulling along my new laptop so I can work while I'm there - which is why I bought the darned thing to being with. He was actually born yesterday on Bastille Day - the day of the French Revolution. Of course, I was born on May 5th, which is the Mexican Revolution . My son was born on SOMEbody's revolution day but I forget which. That's us, we're all just revolting, what can I say .
Did I do better this time?
