So I saw Liz last night. She is so amazing. This is the second time I've seen her and although the first time the set was a little better, this time I was up against the stage, so close she almost hit me with her guitar strap, and she kept making eye contact with me. That was so hot. Charlotte Martin was on first, and her set blew me away. She's like a combination of Tori Amos & Fiona Apple, but younger and better looking. She was pretty funny telling the crowd to shut up and when she fucked up going "damn it". She covered a Cure song and Wild Horses. Her Wild Horses cover is incredible. She also did this song thats not on her cd that was really funny and it went something like "I'm normal please date me", I totally have to get a shirt that says that. Next was Katy Rose, who I didn't even recognize from her cd cover. She opened with a song thats not on her cd, but was really good. The rest of her set was kind of a letdown, the cd is better. Although she did do the Violent Femmes counting thing during one of the songs ("8, 8, I forgot what 8 is for"). Next was supposed to be the Cardigans but instead the actress Minnie Driver came onstage and did some songs, apparently she has an album coming out. I wasn't too impressed. Nothing about it stood out. I wasn't expecting to like the Cardigans but they were really good kinda mellow bluesy rock. Finally Liz Phair took the stage and I was very happy. She did this little dance right in front of me for all of "Rock Me", almost like she was stripping except not taking anything off. And she stared right into my eyes for most of "Why Can't I?" and a whole bunch more times. It was very cool. I forgot to bring my digital camera so I had to take pics with my phone, I don't think they came out too well but I'll see if I can fix them up at all and upload them later.
