as far as L.A. goes, most the areas have good and bad parts. i live pretty far out in the valley in arleta. it's really cheap (i pay at least have of what most my friends) and relatively quiet. good thing 'coz my boss doesn't pay shit. i'd say the best part of the valley to look in would be sherman oaks or burbank/universal city area but there's really nothing to do in those areas as far as clubs, venues, etc. i tried going out in the valley once and while i had fun, it wasn't the same. hehe. guess i'm one of the ones stuck there for the moment. good luck!
