Monday morning, once again. The weekend was a good one, primarily because Christmas on Mars: A Fantastical Film Freakout Featuring the Flaming Lips was the Midnight Madness feature at the Esquire Theater on Capitol Hill. I saw a little bit about the film in the Fearless Freaks documentary (one of my very favorite rock and roll documentaries...highly recommended) , but I had no idea that they had ever finished it. It was certainly worth the wait.
Work rules! I was promoted a couple of weeks ago. Nearly four years of working, developing and maintaining Name.com's Customer Support department, I have officially shaken off that label, and now...now I am nothing. They've pretty much left me with nothing to do, and as many resources as I need to do it with. So far all I've done is write a purchase flow spec for a new product we're launching, a couple of random Web sites and started a blog. Right now I'm looking for a simple API to display a currency cross-rate graph similar to www.xe.com. Any suggestions?
I had lunch with one of my high school teachers on Saturday. He was my favorite teacher growing up. He was a pretty significant character in my high school career, and I carried his influence with me through to adulthood. He found me on Facebook and invited me to lunch. It was a really good meeting. We got along incredibly well, and talked about everything from the time I left Colorado, all the way to sitting at that table at the Mercury Cafe. I apparently had made a comparably significant impact on him as well. I walked away feeling like a paradox had been created, insofar as the meeting could have been contradictory to the written path I have been traveling. It was a pretty deep afternoon.
Becoming a grownup has been full of interesting surprises.
In closing, here is a picture of Beaver brand Hot Cream Horseradish that I found in the fridge at work today. It was delicious:
