I was having a great day at work. Everything was going smoothly. Ten to 5 rolls around and 2 kittens come in. Reason for surrender: Kids Too Rough.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
One of the kittens was fine. Normal little cat, about 6 weeks old. The other was huddled close to the owner's body, as if it was injured. When I went to take the kitten, it screamed bloody murder. Pain and agony. Apparently the 3 1/2 year old child manhandled the kitten. It's neck was flopping back and forth. It was so confused and in so much pain. The information taken on the kittens said the child was squeezing and throwing the cat around. FUCK THAT KID. The kitten had to immediately be put down. There was just nothing we could do for it. It makes me so mad. I wish I knew where the parents were. Were they in the room? Were they somewhere else? Where were they?? How could they let their 3 year old play with a fragile little kitten without educating the kid that a kitten is like a baby. They break easy. It upset me so much because of how much pain the animal was in. It broke my heart. It still is. C.I.D. (Animal Cops) are going to the house to talk to the mother and kids, to educate them on proper handling of animals and such. No charges will be pressed because it was an accident, and you can't exactly put a 3 year old in jail for breaking a kitten's neck. The whole situation is so upsetting. Whether the parents were around or not, the whole thing got to me.

Shit happens every day at that shelter. Animals die, animals get sick.... there are pregnant animals, fighter animals, burned animals, injured, shot, run over. Every day. This kitten was today's to remember. Tomorrow will be a whole different one.

Do not ask me to look for a particular type of animal for you. It's not my job.
