I'd like to rant on a topic close to my heart - tech nerdiness.
Yesterday, I went into a phone store and purchased two Motorola Qs. For those of you not familliar with this level of geek, that's a 'smart phone' - a PDA (think Palm Pilot, only newer) and phone put together. It was thin, black and pretty damned sexy.
On my way home, reception cut out twice. There are virtually NO applications out for the Windows Smartphone OS, or so I discovered when I got home. The controls were ridiculous, I couldn't dial one-handed at all and it felt like a wafer cracker more than a phone. The screen held smudges horribly and it froze itself into oblivion. I cried a little inside.
So, I mosey on into ANOTHER phone store of the same company today and exchange that bastard, throwing an extra hundred bucks to get the Treo 700W. Basically, a Treo that uses Windows PocketPC OS instead of Palm. They only had one, so the second business phone (which a family member uses and already hates) is still the Motorola Q... until Wednesday. It's absolutely ridiculous how big a difference there is in two similarly rated products.
I already want to have sex with this Treo. Seriously.
(disclaimer: Since we're mostly all camera whores here, I should note that I found the digicam on the Q to be a bit sharper than the Treo... but honestly, the difference in ease of function is so vast that even if the Treo HAD no camera, I'd probably say it had a better one.)
