Well after chatting to Kaikai yesterday she convinced me to get away from the screen and go out and draw from real life. I have always had a issue with this as my sketches never look amazing - but if I am to improve and grow as and artist and observer I need to do it more.

But what a fantastic day out there it...

Week 4 of my life studies class and last night we had a male model. Which is actually always interesting to draw. It is a bit of a shame the guy is a bit of a knob and complains constantly. I did feel like pointing out that we were paying to be there and he was getting paid to stand there, so stop complaining about...

The surprise can definitely be fun. However as Dr Sketchys is so much props as well as the models, some models just cover themselves to much in props, or go out of the way to pose poorly. I guess because I'm paying rather then just drawing people on public transport like I normally do.
kaikai:
In the art school I went to you often drew figures for as little as 30 seconds. so you quickly learned that not every sketch is going to look good by any means. I love drawing people in motion, I spend half my lectures drawing either the tutor or my peers.

Go out, draw people as they move!

I juts had an amazing weekend with friends in Anglesea in North Wales... such an amazing time, messing around on the sea, managed to fit some wake boarding in. Lots of beer, lot of food and lots of fun. Now I am sitting at my desk and just wanting to be back there. I always feel so calm at the coast and out on the...

Well apart from me pushing my work for all i am worth (have a look here as well) - life is going along as usual. Got my life studies class again to tonight which should be great, and then off to North Wales to spend time with friends and family up by the chilly coast for the weekend.

How are you all? What are you...

Nice shirts! Does Red Bubble print them to order? I've always wondered how that works.

Being a teacher is kinda crazy. I'd like to say I squeeze in time to do my own work, but I haven't yet. I also just started teaching in September, so I haven't really gotten the hang of things yet.

What's your day (design) job? If you don't mind my asking biggrin
olsen:
I love that bloody girl in the carebear suit. I would totally wear that biggrin

So how is everyone? Good weekends? What did you get up to?

I had a nice chilled one, wandered over to Windsor and went for a nice long walk with friends and then a pub lunch. I was brave and went for the Spicy Chicken, brie and mango sandwich - which actually kind of worked!

Then chilled out in the evening and yes, we watched...

Just a quick one to say, I am pretty chuffed this morning. I got an email from nicole_powers telling me that my work is featured on the SG BLOG, which was an amazing email to wake up to. Would love to hear what you all think. Feel really honored that amongst all the other really talented artists that are part of the SG community...

Cheers, I've put a reasonable amount of effort into it! smile

Only if you've read the earlier ones. It'd be pretty incomprehensible if you hadn't. They're not great works of literature though, just pulp LOTR-lite style page turners.
