You do what you have to do, man. I do graphic design and it's an okay, albeit low-paying job at the moment. It's sort of monotonous, but I've tried some other things as well, and I like it because it doesn't really use up all my creativity and I still get to be artistic during the day. So I can understand where you're coming from. It's good, but it's not 100% what you want to be spending your time on.
Just look at it this way - at least you're not doing something completely different than your preferred field. Lots of people are so screwed with the economy being the way it is, that they are working jobs they would never work otherwise...or even out of work all together!

They are actually all done on the computer - well hand drawn in pencil and then scanned in and coloured in photoshop!

Meh, won't be a challenge, I bet you'll kick some ass on it. ;D As for the style, go with whatever you will have the most fun doing. If I do the challenge as well, I think I'll do something a bit different than normal.
