So, since my beloved Elvis died I have had a hard time with dogs. If you want the full story, then open the Spoiler.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I got Elvis (lab mix) for free back in 1994. He was my boy. He died Dec. of 2005.

A little over 3 years ago, Sarah brought home Roscoe (boxer) while she was pregnant with LT. Elvis tolerated him and right after E died, Roscoe disappeared. This was a few months after we had moved out to the country. We believe that he was either stolen or shot. We were very sad.

Right after E died, and before Roscoe disappeared, we adopted Brownie (lab mix). Brownie was a stray that a very close family friend had picked up for their son after he was pronounced in remission from cancer. He was 4 at the time. His cancer came back and they had to get rid of the dog and he wanted Brownie to go live with Taylor and LT on the "farm", so we took her. Looking back, she was a great dog, but I didn't like her. I think it was too soon after Elvis died. After our "nephew" died we asked his aunt to take Brownie. After they took her, she got out of their yard and was hit by a car and died. I felt absolutely terrible. To this day, I wish I still had her.

Sarah decided she wanted an all white femail boxer. I found Boo for her about this time last year.

During the time I was looking for Boo, I called the breeder where Sarah got Roscoe and asked if they had any whites. Although they said "no", they called me back a couple of weeks after we brought Boo home and they said that one of Roscoe's brother's had been returned to them by their sister who couldn't take care of him. They asked if we would like him. I said yes and Rocky joined our family early summer of last year.

Rocky was an escape artist and Boo learned who to climb our fence by watching him. They were always getting in trouble with the neighbors and we were afraid they were going to get shot. We have a small area fenced in behind the house, but it is a 4ft picket fence. I tried electrifying it, but boxers have a high pain threshold and would just take the shock and climb it. They were still getting in trouble and they also had become addicted to finding skunks. It was clear that for their safety we would have to find them homes. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone wanting 2 big dogs so we had to split them up. They are doing good with their new familys and I get periodic updates. I miss them.

I decided that I would get a small dog that couldn't climb the fence and pull stuff off the kitchen counters. Or climb on the tables for that matter. Now I have Teddy the yorksire terrier. He is a pretty cool dog, but he is no Elvis.

I have decided that I am ready for another lab. I would really like a full blooded chocolate. It just so happens that we have some friends that just had an accedental litter and have several chocolates. I didn't know this and Sarah took me over to their house on a false pretense. I found a choc female and Sarah said I could have her. I will get her in about 2 weeks. I'm excited.

Okay, now the point of this long story was supposed to be a cute little antidote. But now after writing the spoiler, I'm a little blue, so I will the do the best I can.

They had a 7 month old black female that they were never able to get rid of from a previous litter. I said I would take her and the kids wore Sarah down to the point that we took her on "probation". This dog was very sweet and well mannered at their house. They warned us that she was shy.

Did you ever see the movie "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase? They tried to find him a dog and went through a couple before they found "Yellow Dog". The dog was a lab and was just a lump. They had to carry it everywhere and there was even a scene where Chevy Chase's character smelt something burning and realized it was the dog's tail and he had to remove it from the fireplace. Funny stuff.

The dog we brought home was EXACTLY the same. She was so shy and scared that just laid in the driveway when I got her out of the car. No amount of calling her or sweet talking had any effect. She wouldn't even look at us. I picked her up and carried her to the yard and gave her a bath. She never moved. I left her outside to dry off and she just laid in the sun and it was really hot. I picked her up and moved her to the shade while I mowed with the tractor. I then picked her up and brought her inside an placed her on Rocky's old bed that was in our room. She never moved. The next morning I had to pick her up and take her outside. I put her in the backyard with Teddy and she did run around with him a little and take a pee.

She didn't work out and the friends came and got her back last night. She was very excited to see them and acted like a normal dog around them. Very weird. I think they are going to keep her though because their little girl cried for her the whole time she was with us. Good enough for me, I'm glad she will be safe now.

This entry turned out nothing like I anticipated. So to make up for the time you just wasted, assuming you made it this far, you should go check out Elly's newest set. Why? Because the last time I got a boner looking at a SG set was her last set. Say it with me now... Boing!

That is all,
RK
