the story of the persistent theory and of how the electronic anvil started to fuck with my head:

As a child my parents used to take me and my sisters to the travelling circus. We would see the sights, eat some popcorn and watch the shows. There was nothing particularly special about this event other than it was transitory, here one minute an empty dirt field the next (on a side note, I find it interesting to think about how at that time when I was a child I had no idea that a score and handful of years later I would be living in Europe and see the roots of these traveling acts. These travelling shows I visited on the farming plains of central Europe were something darker and harsher than the bubbly reality of the American circus. The poorer Europen counterparts contained more despair and pity in the atmosphere of their striped tents. And never will I forget the look of utmost helplessness on the face of the fat lady as I walked past wondering if the shackles binding her to the wall were pure show or if they really confined her to the whims of the beady-eyed circusmaster)
But I diverge...What brought these memories of the travelling shows to mind was the 'Alamo Drafthouse', a travelling movie theater carousing the countryside looking for loactions to intensify the movie going experience. How fucking cool is that? What I woulldn't give to be a part of such a venture. Maybe I will track it down and catch some shows. It would be something to watch "Lost Highway" in the new mexican desert or maybe even "The City of Lost Children" under the nighttime starry sky. Definate coolness.
In other news new Gorillaz comes out today! Even better, the new Belle & Sebastion collection comes out too! Fuck yeah, it should be a glorious day for new music listening and art project filming in the srubby outgrowths of Southen California...
