runner

they said i must.
even though im tired of always being told to
by someone i can't stand,
i do it anyway.
who knows why i cant go against them.
its my overwhelming need to achieve,
to appease.
happily they take my intentions
half heartedly knowing that its better
then what they get from all the others
who really dont give a damn
about what they what,
because its all about them anyway.
so, it is job by job
i drag their expectations in my bag, behind me
knowing im never going to rid myself of them.
to free myself of them completely
until i decide to do it my way.
but, who am i to think that my way will work
anyway?
my way, it does sound rather nifty when i say it that way.
with a grin that says,
i know im something more then a runner.
