notes on today:
♥ today uproot and i had our first session docenting at childens pool in la jolla for la jolla friends of the seals. i can't believe that people are so against the seals living there!! a philanthropist donatied money in 1931 for the small beach to be made into a better place for childern to swim, and that pushed the seals out until i guess people basically abandoned the beach for the other 8 beaches in the immediate area, not to mention just a few miles up and down the coast. the seals came back in 1999 and this rich woman sued the city to regain public access to the beach and WON despite the fact it's a terrible beach to swim at because of a huge riptide located 10-15 feet from shore. this is the only harbour seal rookery in southern california and i feel very strongly that it needs to stay. i was very happy with how many people donated to the nonprofit in just the two hours we were docenting. we saw people form all over the us, from the uk, canada, isreal and even a man who felt fit to tell us he doesn't agree with our cause. what a fucking dick. within 100m of the seal beach there are two beaches fit to swim at. what is wrong with one beach in the whole god damn county being a marine preseve, seriously?
but, the thing is, it's not a marine preserve. the result of the case against the city is that it is a 'shared' beach, meaning people can use it. right now there are just signs up telling people not to go on the beach because it disturbs the seals but i guess some people still do it every day. it makes me so, so mad when humans act like they are the only species worth saving.
♥ i met my new boss and coworker today. i'm so excited to start work, not only for the money but also to get out of the house.
♥ when old dude gets off work we're going to go for a swim. i love having a pool!
♥ i am going to booze it up with chloe and trixie tomorrow. i expect a good time and a decent hangover.
♥ you know how i posted that old man got a job? well, the person who tipped him off that he 'had' the job phoned back two days lated to say that no, he did not. what a ridiculous way to do things. apparently he didn't get it because he didn't tell them that he only applied at insurance companies. what junk!!
♥ today i had such a good huge veggie burrito at ortegas in la jolla. yummmm!
♥ yesterday i made the most glorious apple betty ever baked. i am really proud of myself. it even tasted good today so i know i did well.
♥ i got a huge care package from my aunt wendy yesterday. i was having a pretty crap day so that made me feel excellent!
♥ i think i need a swim cap and goggles. i will look like such a dork in our little pool but whatever. the chlorine is making my hair way yellower than i want it and when my hair is pink it wil not be able to tolerate getting so wet all the time.
♥ i really want to make cabbage rolls. i have been desiring them since i moved from vancouver.

I agree with you in that I would have to be paid to go see Tranformers. By paid I'm at least talking triple digits here!
I have Transformers Season 1 on DVD here at home, and I seriously need to get the other seasons one of these days.
