I'm not a big fan of Joe Vs. The Volcano (in fact, I think every one of the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan films is pretty horrid), but there are two scenes that work completely for me.

The first scene is in the beginning when Mr. Waturi is talking on the phone. His dialogue always brings a smile to my face. "I know he can get the job, but can he do the job? I'm not arguing that with you. I'm not arguing that with you. I'm not--who said that? Did I say that? If I said that I would have been wrong." And so on.

The other scene is when Marshall the limo driver takes Joe shopping. I guess I'm kinda a sucker for montages where a knowledgable character helps a clueless character change themselves (though the one in Pretty Woman left me cold; and let's not even begin to get into all of the things that left me cold in that film). There's just something really cool about Marshall. The fact that he's played by Ossie Davis probably has something to do with it. Kinda reminds me that my favorite scene from Highlander 2: The Quickening has always been scene in the tailor's shop.

Perhaps I should go have a suit made. Hmm.

I like the suit idea. Get a suit. Good idea.

Speaking of movie scenes that just work, I'm really itching to see Coffee & Cigarettes. I have a feeling that movie's gonna be full of good scenes. Considering, that that's what it is, a bunch of random coffeeshop scenes all put together. We'll see.
