- my final semester started last week. Providing that I can produce a thesis, I'll have a MA in fourteen weeks. The fact that adulthood stretches long into the distance isn't a comforting thought.

- I caught Big Fish with the sibs, and we all enjoyed it. Because I'm a sentimentalist at heart, the ending worked for me, though I can certainly see where others felt it was manipulative. Now I'll have to put the book on my reading list, which is already far too long.
- According to an old friend of mine, I'm not doing my time honored duty of seducing undergrads. I told him that I lacked the inclination. He told me I'd have to take one for the team. I told him I'd give it some thought. He told me that I'd better have an undergrad moaning in the bell tower before May. We had a laugh.
- I'm really starting to like the folk singer Dan Bern's stuff. I think he tries (or perhaps tried) a little too hard to be like Dylan, but most of what I've heard from him has been quite enjoyable. Certainly worth checking out if you like modern folk.
