Much of my recent entertainment consumption has consisted of alternating between Firefly and Farscape viewings. Just really good skiffy shows that shouldn't have been cancelled when they were. What it's really made me think about, though, is what type of show would Joss Whedon and Rockne S. O'Bannon come up with if they ever collaborated on something. I mean, they have similar tendencies and concerns with the things they write. But then each might hate everything the other has done, making collaboration impossible. And each seems to almost exclusively work within worlds they themselves create. Ah, well.

I play the entertainment "what if" game often. Sometimes it's wondering about collaborations or adaptations (like what would a Snowcrash adaptation be like if done up right?) that I'd like to see. But more often it's about dead entertainers, and wondering what they'd be doing now if they'd lived (how many roles in the last nine years would've been perfect for John Candy? for Phil Hartman? for Bruce Lee?); or about projects that I've heard about that've been altered or fallen through (wouldn't you have killed to see the original version of Dune with Dali as the emperor and Pink Floyd doing the score? or what did the original cut of Metropolis look like?).

But the game is meaningless, of course. Masturbatory. Fun, feels good, but, yeah.

Ahhh . . . sweet, sweet collaborative creative fantasies. An excellent topic for those long winter evenings huddled around the waterpipe.

Thanks for the "feel betters". When one is feeling like death, every little smile feels so much brighter.

SG community is the cake. The nekkid ladies are the icing. Mmmmmm . . . icing.

*hugs n later*
