I was talking with one of my classmates during our final class last semester. We'd sat next to each other throughout the semester, and, even though she was married, we'd flirted and joked and did the furtive glancing thing. All very fun and meaningless. But on the last day the two of us (and a third classmate) were talking about the Bret Easton Ellis book Less Than Zero and how it was amazing for a first novel. She said that she remembered the stir it caused when it was first published. I joked that it was all the rage amongst the first graders. She looked very confused until I explained that I was six when it was first published. I've seen the look that crossed her face before; she'd thought I was older. I could see her going over past flirtations with the new information that I was nearly a decade younger than her.

Back when I was a freshman in high school I used to frequent the chat rooms that were hosted by our ISP at the time (Prodigy; anyone remember that service?), and I'd always have people thinking I was in my twenties or thirties when I was really fourteen. It was very strange for me. Most interesting, to me at the time, was the amount of cyber and phone sex I got from thiry-year-old women. For some reason, my most vividly erotic memory from that period is of MsZoo telling me over the phone, "I think I have a crush on you." Much more erotic than the phone sex, in my opinion.

I don't know what go me thinking about this. Just randomness in the neurons.

As Aucado noted, I suffer the opposite - here I am, the ripe old age of 23, and whether or not I grow the facial fur long or short people seem to think me 17. I say 17 because, while I seem to have no problem purchasing alcohol which implies a 21, I still get carded EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN TIME I try to buy smokes. It doesn't matter where I buy them, nor who I buy them from. I even once bought cigarettes at a bar from the guy who was working the door - so not even 1 hour ago this guy saw I was 23 - or in any case 21 or older - but suddenly doesn't buy that I'm 18.

So I guess I'm saying congratulations on probably not getting carded all the time?

Hrm... I've really gotta stop randomly ranting on people's profiles just because what they said made me think of my own shit.

Yeah, I don't know what the author's ulterior motive was in writing that article - the ten list was tacked on as an afterthought to a well-thought out article about how Brits are still scared to talk about sex. I just found it funny, and a little more accurate than the polls I usually see that say women are after a sense of humor, even if Ted Bundy happens to be the one wielding it. Oh and a cute butt. What can I say - it struck a nerve and so it was in the journal.

As to lesbians - I find them attractive too. Very attractive. But from the kind of evolutionary psych take on things - it makes no sense at all. I was just using lesbians as a qualifier for men being just as stupid as women.

and yes, I'm sure before too long Meph will be screaming at me for loss of lucrative moneys and general eediocy.
