I love that I can still be thrilled at how startlingly nice some people are, and how little effort it takes to be startlingly nice to other people.

I've also been thinking about holy water a lot. I'm one of those crazy Cath-o-lics. At church on Easter, they had little plastic bottles of holy water for the taking. I grabbed one, just in case a vampire comes around or something. My parents grabbed one too, to put on the shelf next to the bottle from last year and the one from the year before.

This raises a lot of questions. Does holy water go bad? I disposed of their old bottles in the proper way (poured them into the ground). That made me wonder some more. What about the leftover drops that cling to the bottle? If you try to wash it out, that just makes more holy water, so that won't work. If you let it evaporate, does that leave some sort of holy residue? Is it inherently holy water, or is it normal water with holy dissolved in it? If the water is inherently holy, does that mean there's a cloud of holy water vapor floating around? If I poured it into Lake Michigan, would the whole lake be holy?

I wonder is St. Thomas Aquinas or Augustine of Hippo ever thought about this kind of shit.
