watched this last night, for the first time
and it's a strange one
i didn't particularly enjoy watching it, but upon reflection it really works
i won't be giving too much away by saying it's basically a bloke mumbling for an hour & a half
on heroin ... falling over occasionally

but Micheal Pitt's performance is spot on
in particular, a song that the actor actually wrote, he performs near the end (on an acoustic guitar - all by himself in his huge house) is just beautiful and powerful and tragic, like a fitting swan song had Cobain wrote it himself

after the film ended, i skipped back to watch the song again and it struck me how lost / trapped / desperate he must've felt
even his ability to create such powerful music wasn't enough to keep him from taking his own life

so, yes, in retrospect
