It's great see someone with the strength to remain positive when going through a tough period of life.
A friend of mine from uni committed suicide over the summer which came as huge shock no one thought he was having those sort of feelings not even his fiancee. But i can not compare my loss to yours as my friend choose to end his life so you feel more sad for his family and young children.
Hope everything goes well at the doctors and i think you have made the right choice regarding your Ex.
