"Standup comedy has always been treacherous ground. For every Richard Pryor/Bill Hicks/Billy Connolly/Robin Williams there are a thousand duds. Having read some good reviews of Dane Cook in the tabloid media, I purchased this 3 disc set for, what I thought, the low price of $15! I have listened to it twice and I found it to be just plain awful. There is an art in having the ability to tell a story about almost any subject and have the audience perceive the absurd and humorous side of the tale. For example, Bill Hicks used the idea of having terminally ill people play the role of stuntmen/women in violent movies! Not exactly idle chit chat for the dinner table, you would think. Yet, Hicks managed to use the premise to not only make his audience laugh but, to raise the issue about the elderly being abandoned. Comedians like Pryor and Bruce were masters at using the standup to raise issues that had to be addressed. Dane Cooks contribution to society is to advocate defecation! One or two of his ideas got a smile from me but, they were the exceptions. This cd doesnt even belong in the bargin bin. "
