I had something similar nearly happen to me with my tattoos. During one of my earlier rotations I was in the locker room changing into scrubs before observing a procedure in the OR. One of the physicians I worked with on that rotation was with me and I thought for sure he would see the daggers on my thighs, but he somehow didn't. Many younger people in the health professions are getting tattoos - I can think of a couple of my professors who have hidden tattoos, plus one hospital pharmacist with full sleeves that he didn't bother to cover.
