The 14 year old in me was very very happy on Tuesday, a friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to the Mayhem Fest with him. Being someone that mostly listens to punk, I'm not one to jump at the chance to go to a heavy metal festival but Anthrax, Slayer and MOTORHEAD were playing and I had to go.
When we got there the fest was already going and the bands that were playing weren't really what we wanted to see so we hung out in the beer garden and drank WAY over priced beer.
The first band we saw was Anthrax.
I gotta say they were the best band we saw all day. They just rocked it. Lots of energy and lots of fun.
They started their set with Caught In A Mosh and it was on. They were so much better than I ever thought they were going to be.
Second we saw MOTORHEAD
It was awesome seeing them live. I gotta say is yes they are louder than everyone else. The other thing is that they made it really intimate for a venue that is huge.
Lastly we saw
SLAYER
HOLY COW they can put on a show. Fire, loud thrash metal, just amazing.
I left grinning from ear to ear.
