I saw a couple of films tonight, and since I have nothing better to post, I thought I should update with that little tidbit of excitement.

First up was The Incredibles, which was very solid. I've never thought a Pixar flick was awesomely amazing and fantastic, but I've always thought they at least earned the description of "pleasant." And The Incredibles follows in Pixar's previous efforts' footsteps. Entertaining movie, but nothing exceptionally memorable. The DVD had lots of extra goodies that are well worth the time spent to see them, which is something hard lucked to find, from my experience at least. It seems to be a little more complex than, say, Finding Nemo, so kids under 8 or so probably won't be able to follow it.

Secondly, there was Ghost World. Now, Ghost World is a movie I've been wanting to see for quite the longest time. Everytime I went to Movie Gallery, it was rented out, except for today. Lucky lucky. At Blockbuster they only have it on video, which is quite an atrocity because this movie deserves every medium available for people to watch. It's a great film, and even bettered by the fact that I'm quite the Steve Buscemi fan, and the Thora Birch fan, and the Scarlett Johansson fan as well. It's a dark drama, with a few comedy elements thrown in there for spice. It centers around two cynical girls who recently graduated from high school, and who, through looking for personals, run across one example from a guy who was looking for a woman he had met at some random occassion. They decide to play a prank on him, pretending to be the woman he had met, and that's how they meet him. One of them becomes strikingly fascinated by him, and that's how the story unfolds. It's a great movie, but rather depressing. And that's the kind of mood I'm left in how, after just having watched it, for merely the first time, of course.

I also picked up, or rather, got in the mail, Kanye West's College Dropout. It's fantastic. I'm not the biggest rap fan so I'm not familiar with all of rap's material, but I can say that this is my favorite rap album I have heard, and it's up there on the "overall" spectrum also, of course.

If you like Ghost World, you should check out American Splendor. A true story about Harvey Peakar who wrote comic books about his everyday life in the 70's. It doesn't sound that interesting but it is.

More and more people are telling me that is striking a familiar chord. Geez, I didn't know I had so much company. smile

Maybe we should start a support group... nah, we should just keep meeting here. tongue

I do trust you guys ... It's not always a person can step in, pretty much unknown, into a group of existing friends and just say "hi" with no introduction. Every one of you has made me feel welcome.
