About this time last year I logged an entry here on SG about these new-fangled technodoodles called New Year's Resolutions--anybody heard of 'em?
Well, I didn't make many, but I feel there's a li'l bit of retrospection to be in order. Did I succeed in my goal to take over the world? Did I save a baby from a burning 3-story house and win the heart of millions? Well, it doesn't matter really, because neither of those were on my list.
What was on my list is infinitely more ordinary:
1. Save a little money
Did this happen? Oh, hell no. Not at all. But it doesn't matter. I shall work towards that goal in the future. I can't hit everytime, even though I am an oversensationalised baby-saving villian of mass infamy.
2. Stay in all my classes at school
Well, I kind of failed and succeeded. Last spring I had to withdraw from all my classes due to reasons dealing with the green $$$. But the classes I took this fall I was able to retain. So... kinda sorta.
3. Have more fun
Yep, most definitely. '05 was a pretty decent year, considering all that it had against it from the get-go. We saw the rise and fall of a great venue, and some other stuff that's infinitely less important than the previous statement.
So I also mentioned in that uplifting entry a year ago that 2 out of 3 isn't bad. That's 66%, kids. In high school that's a passing grade! And I hit it, or I would have precisely on the head of the nail, save for circumstances beyond my control (of this year anyway, regarding the schooling resolution).
I'll post some for next year closer to next year. Have a great Christmas everybody! I hope you all get bundles of really expensive presents you end up returning for much more appropriate items.

as far a resolutions go, i think that making them at least gets the thoughts going in the right direction. most people want to lose weight/get in shape, move, have a new career, etc... and attaching a life-changing event to the start of a new year is good. i think people use to see it as "hey, I survived the past year. I better start living better cause you never know when the end will come." as for me... eh, I'll make a few. the ones from the past year weren't kept, so I didn't 'pass' according to your grading system.
