For some reason, I've got it in my mind to start planning for a trip to the Cancun area in order to visit Chichen Itza, the largest of the ruined Mayan cities... I was also thinking of Copan or Tikal, but I'm not certain that I'm up for visiting three different countries in one go: Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. It would be interesting and probably quite memorable, but my funds are limited...
I know that I'll have to go sometime in 2006, but probably during one of the equinoxes just to see the reason that the temples were built in a certain way... I'm thinking the Vernal Equinox, but perhaps the Autumnal one may attract fewer tourists?
