Sending a package to my tribe's off-reserve members consisting of an introductory letter, an information sheet, instructions for an application form, and the aforementioned application form is a bit more time-consuming than I originally imagined...

Warning: Office Work Description Ahead

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I was able to take over the big copier in the office last Friday afternoon for a long enough time to print off 200 double-sided sheets for the letter. I then spent the rest of the time at the office grabbing 200+ envelopes and having the office machine "stamp" them. I then went home. Total Time: Four Hours

I missed a few hours from work this week, so I made it up on Sunday evening. It took me about fifteen minutes to figure out how to rig my home office's laser printer up so I could reliably print double-sided (combining the fact sheet and instructions). After that, I printed off two hundred copies of the application form. I then spent a grand total of four hours folding each of the three separate sheets and placing them into an addressed and stamped envelope. This was quite fun. It took me five hours.

Today, I realized that I had to seal these envelopes. That only took an hour with the use of a wash-cloth. I then realized that I had to give a return address, so I rushed out and bought return address labels. That only took half an hour. I came back and labelled each envelope with a return address. This took an hour. I then went back out and mailed the damn things. A grand total of two and a half hours. Did I mention I skipped lunch?

So, eleven and a half work hours later, I'm finally finished. I figure the next time I do this, it'll be faster since I know what I'll be doing. Of course, I had already done something similar with the help of a colleague a few months ago, and it took the two of us a whole day to do... so I guess I might not learn much next time, I dunno, hehe.

Anyway, after taking a big financial hit from the Xmas Holiday Season, I've not been doing much beyond reading and mucking about on the cheap. Mostly books and writing, though there's a liberal amount of watching DVDs and what little good television there's left.

I should restart my foray into cooking again... This not buying many of my meals at a restaurant is getting unsettling -- I miss Pho! frown

To the Canadians Among Us: The second and final set of Federal Debates is on today at 5pm PST on CBC and most likely CTV as well...
