Quick updates:
New Years: A really good time. Went a party out in rural Mass. Saw some good people from college, met some new good people. We got loaded and set off Roman candles at midnight. Peter, one of the only people who wasn't drunk, tried to light 30 sparklers at once and burnt his hand.
Work: Well, what's ever to say about work? I've spent the last week playing chess with the guy at the next desk because things are so slow. I smell layoffs in the air.
Music: Bought an old copy of Yo La Tengo's "I Can Feel the Heart Beating as One" and a couple of Nick Cave records on vinyl. Very psyched about that. Also got a new amp for my guitar for christmas. It's amazing how much better it sounds on an amp than over headphones through my 4-track.
Lovelife: I went on a nice date the other night. Went to see Big Fish with a nice girl I met on Craigslist who is cute and smarter than me. Sadly, she's got to go back to Swarthmore for a semester before she comes back to Boston. But we'll keep in touch. We'd better. I let her take my favorite Sharon Olds book with her. More importantly. things are going well with Carla (my redheaded dreamgirl at work). We're talking all the time now, and trading CDs back and forth. I'm listening right now to the Dear Leader CD she wanted me to listen to. Only eleven days til the Rilo Kiley show (the first time I get to spend with her outside work). I've waited a long, long time for this (I've had a huge crush on Carla since I met her in June and have only recently gotten up the nerve to actually talk to her. Also, I've had no girlfriend and no action since Clinton was in the White House) and I think I may have found the woman I was waiting for. Now to hope she's on the same page...
