You hear about people who divorce their parents. They're usually 14 and angsty. I'm at the point now where if I werent 32 and havent been living with my mum since she gave me the ultimatum "if you're not going to university you're not living under my roof" I would be applying for said divorce.
You know the end has to be nigh when this person screams at you down the phone "i'm on my way to do you a fucking favour. I just need to fucking eat". Why, you ask? Apparently because she'd had a bad day at work(!).
I'm an adult now. I no longer have to put up with her bullshit so i've made the decision not to.
There's only one problem- we're booked (me, my sister and The Rottweiler as my mum is known at work- come on now anyone who has been given that nickname by their co-workers has to be somewhat suspect) on a week's holiday in Tunisia in August. It's our FIRST foreign holiday together ever.
When i was a child my mum would leave me with my nana and go on holiday without me- i still have the postcards from various places from her. At the time i didnt know that wasnt normal- the parent going on holidays without the child.
This holiday was meant to be for me and my sister- she's cool as fuck and i havent spent nearly as much time with her as i'd have liked as we have different dads & she was lucky enough to live with her dad (that's another story lol).We invited mum as we didnt want her to feel left out (big mistake!).
So now the shit has hit the fan - again. It's the same old story and after feeling enraged for the millionth time I finally feel exhausted and quite bored of it. I am officially giving up on the mother-daughter relationship. You cant have a relationship with someone who doesnt give a shit about you - any therapist would tell you that lol.
Better to cut ties and move on. It cant be said that I havent tried - I've spent my whole life trying and getting it thrown back in my face every time. Time to move on.
So I plan to be neutral on this holiday. Although it would be tempting to snipe at her and have a go I shall remain silent. There will no doubt be another blog about the holiday when I've been on it.
