Went on a little spending spree at Best Buy and picked up some music I guess I thought I couldn't live without. Here's what I got:

Black Marias
New Order (recent album)
Auf Der Maur
Slipknot

All I like except for New Order. They just don;t have the same appeal to me as their early works. Not sure why. But the others are to my liking. This week I have been playing Slipknot continously. It is a hard hitting album with tearing guitar rifs and pounding rhythms. But ironically it is also very melodic. I've not heard their earlier two releases, but I think this album is more concrete musically. You can feel the emotion in the vocals as the forceful lyrics assault your ears. There are about four songs which could fall into a ballad category, but it shows the true talent the members have. They are not just another screaming-pound-on-guitars band (though this is not to say their songs don't incorporate these things). I'm glad I took the risk and got it.

Now all I have to do is take that New Order cd to CD Wherehouse and sell it.
