although i enjoy doing nothing on the weekends, it sometimes feels like a waste of time if i don't accomplish at least on thing. i like having a tangable result to look at and say, 'at least i got ________ done' (insert: laundry, various projects, partying, ...) so this weekend i decided to travel to my hometown and visit with friends and family. saturday brought opportunities for adventure in the form of a festival. the downtown art committee was holding their annual Jump, Jam, and JiveFest. artist from all over came to display their creations and hold demonstrations. i saw a glass artist sculpt some colorful medallions, a spray-paint artist create a universe on paper, an African woodcarver bring new life to an old log, and a blacksmith shape raw iron to his will. the transformation of thought into tangible objects always amazes me. my world revolves around logical linear thinking; i am unable to express my creativeness in any just manner. so i just appreciate those who can.
as the sun fell behind city buildings, a chill invaded the air. it was a nice crispness compared to what evenings will be like in a month or two. the crowd mulled about in anticipation of the headlining musical attraction, Los Lonely Boys. I am happy I heard them play. they are extremely talented. their set lasted almost two hours, full of instrumental rifts and easy-going melodies. at the conclusion of the night, i retired to bed glad for the shared experience with my friends.
better than doing nothing by a long shot...
word of the day
burgeon: /bur-jen/ v - to flourish or grow rapidly
i.e., It would take but a single glance for an outsider to notice the burgeoning lust within the young lovers - their eyes locked steadfast upon one another, tactile senses in passionate overload.

Los Lonely Boys are very competant musicians. Their vast material is much better than the single that burned up the airwaves last summer.
