WTF!! I just got through watching this week's episode of Lost and I am so freaking on edge! I was a bit disappointed in this second season until tonight. Things has lost their surreal appeal it seemed. But now the twist are in full force again and I can't wait to see what happens next week. TV programming has something to offer again.
Fencing went well this weekend, but I almost didn't make it over there. I had to work until 6pm on Friday, which put me leaving a lot later than I expected. Fortunately I packed and drove my own vehicle to the job site so I could at least use where we were working as a stepping stone to Oxford. The night before I looked up directions online. I decided on making a little shortcut, hoping to save time. My printer is down, so I wrote down all my directions. Ok, so I am on my way, cruising through western Misissippi, I turn to take my shortcut, and everything is going smooth until I hit an intersection not in my directions. Hmm.... what to do. So I go right, hoping for the best. I am suppose to junction with a major road, and in the distance I see the frequent movement of tiny car headlights. Everything is fine, i think, until I reach the junction. I slowly come to realize that I am back where I started, back to where I turned to take my shortcut. I drove in a huge 25mile circle on country roads. Now I am a little concerned because I do not have a map and basically I am in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by soybean fields. So I call my sister in hopes that she can look up my position on the computer. No luck, her computer is down. Everyone else I know is out for the night or it is too late to bother. So I sit for a minute, and in the distance I notice that there is a rest stop. Yes! So I pull in and find a map. Turns out if I had gone left at the unmarked junction, I would have been fine, but me getting sidetracked cost me an extra hour and more than my share of fustration.
Anyway I got in ok sometime around 11pm. Fencing didn't start until 9am on Saturday, so I got to sleep til 7am. Oxford is a nice town, but in some ways it is still steeped in the old South. The campus was interesting. I wasn't in a frame of mind to take pics, but I did get a few. One is of the observatory.
I though it very old and it should have had a telescope sticking out of the roof.
I also got one or two shots of some of the other fencers. This girl was good, but unfortunately she lost a close bout.
I ended up taking 6th in both events, not the best but I am happy.
I guess that's enough for now. meh.
