i took a break from studying for hematology and ended up finding a few sites about burkitt's lymphoma that had some stories about people who developed, and subsequently died from, the disease. its not like i wasnt interested or dedicated before reading those little snippets, but i kind of feel like i almost ought to study leukemia and lymphomas more now. its like i have some sort of connection to it now, which is rediculous. i have no more connection than i did before reading what people posted on a few websites. but, for some reason, it kind of gave the diseases some identity. i think particularly hard to shake was the story of the fourth year med student who was diagnosed with burkitt's two months before her graduation, and died about three weeks before the ceremony. god damn it, i was all prepared to get some sleep too, but now i know im going to stay up for four or five more hours studying this shit.

however, i'm also fantastically sick right now, so that's awesome. my slight runny nose has developed into a full-blown cold that seems to be getting persistently worse.
That is a depressing story, btw. Has a cure been found for that disease?
