its really funny when my boss refers to my application as being associated with "bad joojoo." the man is a neurosurgeon, and is rather stodgy and conservative, yet feels fine describing things in terms of their relation to "joojoo." so awesome.

the man works with broken coconuts all day, what do you expect?

so it can be intimidating talking to a genius, but i dont think that was the case today. dr. f was a really cool guy, and i think he would have a hard time appearing intimidating considering that his body looks as if it will fall apart at any moment. but at least he got my hopes up, whether or not that will prove to...

no, its certain that im just annoyed with people associating my taste in music with my personality too strongly. i know that not listing music that i like is not going to stop people from judging me based on my preferences, but i really hate how people who are into a certain band get grouped together, as if the fact that i like radiohead is the most defining tenet of my personality. the fact that i put louis sullivan as one of my favorite artists should categorize me more as a pseudo-intellectual than the fact that i own 'the bends' does. it reminds me of a dave barry chapter in his book on japan, in which he describes seeing a bunch of bands play on adjacent stages in a park or something. each band had fans that dressed a certain way and were attempting to be different in uniformity. bah to that. and also, i think that i was too quick to assume the reason that the question was placed in my profile was something to do with being hip. oh well. judgemental luke.

i think it's essentially similar to my issues with having blue hair. when i have blue hair, i immediately get categorized into the "rebellious kids" group, and most adults don't really listen to a single thing i say, because i'm just some punk kid. for a long time, i figured that it's ok, because after a while, they'll come to realize that i'm actually a mega-genius, and will be forced to reconsider their ignorant belief system, and i'll have done some good in the world. and then i got really fucking tired of always starting out behind, and having to constantly prove myself, and know that in some cases, i was doomed to failure from the get go, because some people simply REFUSE to listen to anything that a blue-haired person has to say. i desperately miss my blue hair, i am less happy without it, and less myself, ultimately, but my life is also, in many ways, much easier. i don't get stared at all the time, i don't have to put up with as much shit, etc.
so i think with music, it's the same thing. yes, i could prove that even awesome badasses like me can love ABBA, but really, do i want to put up with a ton of crap just to make my point? no. i'm lazy.
but man oh man, do i miss my blue hair. damn society managed to get over nose rings, can't they hurry up and evolve?

this might be the most astounded i have ever been.

if it makes it any more believable, remember, you're not the only one here, pal.
imagoldfish:
it's definitely up there.

so i think the weirdest part about living in this house is dealing with the water-monster that seems to inhabit the second floor. i mean, she seems like a person, though she is clearly some preter-natural void for water. perhaps i should ask a scientist he or she thinks. its obvious that shes not natural, yet she exists (at least in my mind, and seemingly...

imagoldfish:

stop feeding the ulcers so much coffee, they'll like you more.

Well, I was going to poste Too Blue, one of my favorite Langston Hughes poems, but my copy of his works is in Boise and amazingly enough, I can't find a full version of it online. Argh. So we can pretend.

so this is the only pic i have of myself. it was taken the first day of college and is rather stretched by SG, but its better than the stupid question mark sign that i was assigned for not having a pic.
imagoldfish:
dude. that is an odd picture of you. then again, i guess the rest of us aren't much better...

man am i getting sick of people proving me right. i mean, seriously, does everyone want me to become more convinced of the greatness of my judgement. i think if i started hanging out with someone called 'the baron' things would be different. thats what i should, i should get to know 'the baron' or the 'red flyer' or someone like that. damn im clever.
imagoldfish:
what humbling letter? what are you right about now? why are you never online at the same time as me?
i'm trying to picture someone called 'the baron' but it's not working.

dont really have a lot to say, but cant really sleep at this point, so feel like i should post something. reading 'the fountainhead' and realizing that ayn rand just doesnt 'get' architecture. kind of frustrating when someone who is that egotistical in their arguments fails to realize that their basic assumptions are wrong. argh. cant think.
