why do i hate the yankees? its not because they are rich, i can deal with that. its the fact that they are exactly what sports is supposed to make one want to overcome. sport is a mock battle in which you have to believe that there is something innate in the human spirit that cannot prepared for. everything the yankees do is to counter...

so once again i taught at the elementary school across the way, and once again i want to do the teacher. this woman is totally my age, and totally attractive, and totally single. sigh. such a drag.
imagoldfish:
ok, so why can't you do her? i'm confused...
its amazing how much credibility comes with wearing a white coat. im totally going to have to start using that more.
imagoldfish:
oh man, i saw this fantastic comment on the boards:
"I made out with a sick girl the other day convincing her that she could catch my healthy germs and get better."
You can thank me later, once you've made the rounds.
(get it? get it?)
I kill myself! Oh man!

you'll get yours, don't worry. heh heh.

Oh, I wouldn't go so far as "avoiding overt acts of affection", but, for instance, if Rob suddenly started calling me every day, having flowers and chocolates sent to me, and sending me a bunch of cute little emails, I'd think something seriously fucked up was going on. Like, if he suddenly did a 180 and was going out of his way to be sweet, you know? If he just got a bit sweeter, and called you know, ever, heh heh, or sent some email, or even got me a present, that'd be one thing, but if it seemed like a massive life change, where he was really going all out, I'd be more confused than touched. In fact, small acts of affection once in awhile are totally awesome, even more so when they're so rare. It's sort of a problematic thing, where of course girls want guys to be mushy, romantic, etc, but if they do it all the time, then it's no good. Never is no good either - this is an important point. But it's all about balance. You really ought to read A Certain Chemistry, it deals with all this stuff quite nicely, and is incredibly funny as well.
By the way, when you do get that package, the letter in it, the word that I spend half a page trying to remember is assimilate. Heh heh. Man, that was bugging me for ages.

im going to see the n mississippi all stars tonight at the paradise. i think they are playing with the dirty dozen, and im not sure who is opening for them. however, as tonight constitutes my weekend, they had better damn-well be good.

I love lobster. So much. I miss it so much. My aunt and uncle live on the Maine coast near bluehill (blueberries for sal, anyone?) and one family reunion we had a cookout on the beach - three huge boilers - one was full of mussels, one of clams, and one of lobsters. It was one of the best days of my life...
I don't know about wales but I've adopted quite a few, apparently...

its really funny to think that both my parents are smarter than i am. i mean, in theory, two smart people should produce someone who is even smarter. but alas, no dice. when i think about some of the kids in pc, i realize that their parents must have been really smart, but man oh man, were they morons. oh well, takes the pressure off.

maybe my standards just climbed a bit more. I've been feeling somewhat disappointed in school today. but it might just be a mood. probably is.
for real though, email me your address, because i'm an idiot.

when you become a rich doctor, can i be your roommate?
vey seriously trying to decide what i think about wilde's 'the picture of dorian gray.' that, and trying to decide about how to teach third graders about doctors without scarying them too much.
imagoldfish:
Yeah, and it turns out he's in one of my classes too. As I was leaving, he was like, Hey, are you going home?
So wierd. If I had said yes, would he have asked if he could come too?

Um. shouldn't you be studying something *worthwhile* at Med School instead of pussy queer poety stuffs?
note to self: if planning on conducting a gene therapy study attempting to correct low immune system activity, do not use a viral vector associated with causing leukemia.
yeah, scary shit.
yeah, scary shit.

hi hi to the monkey that is never online
art deco is rad. and so is grieg's 'in the hall of the mountain king.'
i think that your theory hinges on this idea that there's something more to sports than just skill, so like, the ultimate robot isn't gonna be the best player, but rather, the human with grit and spirit and all that crap is going to somehow pull a miracle out of his/her ass and win. especially in the case of a team.
I nearly died of happiness last night after nearly dying of stress for the last 3 innings. Because at the bottom of the 9th, with the Red Sox ahead by more than a few runs, I've seen them lose. Probably a few times although one stands clearly out in my mind. You never, ever, fucking know what's gonna happen. And that's why robots will never understand it.
