It leaves a lovely light

I love the quote!

Good luck with the teaching. I sometimes play chess with my housemate but He gets so competitive about it that it takes the fun out of it. All the same, I invariably beat him and he does tend to be a poor loser. He insists on telling me at length about how I got lucky and he had such and such a flawless strategy worked out. He doesn't seem to grasp that its really easy to work out a flawless strategy until, that is, you take into account the fact that your opponent isn't actually going to play into your hands by making all of those conveniently dumb moves!! biggrin

PS Thanks for your explanation of the depression and maths thing. I can see where you are coming from now and yes, it makes sense!

So how can depression help with mathematics (or how can mathematics help with depression)? I am just curious. I used to like maths and I have also had problems with depression but during my depressive phases, I was never able to concentrate nd for maths you need to concentrate.

Thank you for the ruminations on plato. I'm pretty ignorant in a lot of classical thought, and what I've read, I've forgotten.
