Music. Suicide Girls. Nonsense.

So. Here it is. The first blog of my latest project. I figured this site was most deserving of the first post, and I hope that I don't let anyone who may be reading at this early stage down. Let's start from the beginning, shall we? I have been producing music for others for a few years. I enjoy it. Music has been one of the few constants in my existence, and my own personal music has been something very near and dear to me. I was approached by a well-known producer (cannot mention names yet, as the contracts are yet to be finalized) that I had the pleasure of meeting through two people who have been great mentors to me. (I will give you hints on those: One plays with a former member of Van Halen, the other is a former grunge singer who now writes AMAZING folk music.) Anyhow, this producer had a wonderful, unique vision for a project that nearly suited my goals and creative interests perfectly. Thus, the beginning of Rem Rodrigues and the Madmen, and our project entitled, "The Great American Killing Machine." Now, in the music world, promotion of albums or singles generally begins once an artist or band has been in the studio for some period of time, and has a general sense of what direction the project is going to take. The wonderful PR and Social Media rep I am working with came up with a rather interesting idea. She suggested that we chronicle the entire process from the beginning. The writing, the recording, the promotion, the bumps in the road, the big breaks, the blood, the sweat, the tears. Create a kind of scrapbook from the early seeds of this project by someone who is relatively unknown, all the way to its final stage. (Which hopefully entails being slightly less unknown.) She had, of course, suggested using the typical social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, etc. But, I was rather intrigued when she had suggested Suicide Girls as a possible option. I knew she was on to something there. Here is a community filled with people who are following a similar path. Doing something new and different. Watching something small grow into something amazing. People expressing themselves in a way far outside the norm, and one that is immeasurably more beautiful. I think the people who are themselves Suicide Girls, aspire to become them, or just appreciate them for the strength they possess and boundaries they transcend, share a similar thought process and twistedness with myself and those I am working with; making this a perfect venue to share our project with likeminded ladies and gentlemen. This is an inspirational place, full of amazing individuals. It is a gift. Be thankful. In two days, I have already cultivated experiences that have been mutually beneficial to myself and others. That is a wonderful, rare thing. I apologize if this appeared a bit elusive or self-absorbed, but I can promise lots of entertainment to come. Thanks for reading. Stay tuned, keep loving, keep smiling, and just do good. -Rem.
