I'm so sick of listening to my product of suburbia friends complain about their lives. "I'm too fat", "I don't have the right clothes", "I can't meet a decent guy". SHUT THE FUCK UP! I can't figure out why people who have it so good are so discontent with their lives.

I'm a social worker and see a lot people with bigger problems than mismatched handbags and shoes. I also think about the little girl I sponsor in Cambodia, having had to deal with family members dying because of AIDS or being dismembered by land mines. I'm sure she's more concerned about finding food as opposed to having big thighs.

We live in one of the most affluent countries in the world, and even here, we have poverty. I'm not saying that everyone's life is a piece of cake. We've all got problems, but we also have the means to change them. So instead of picking up the phone and calling me to tell me about how you wish your life was like 'Sex and the City', keep it to yourself and make it happen. If you're bummed about it fix it!

Thank you!
End of rant.

yes, our problems seem miniscule compared to people in many other parts of the world. thou, everyone's reality is different. in cambodia the reality is that there's not enough food. in iraq the reality is many people have to live in fear everyday of being bombed/ killed by terrorists (or the american army, but that's another topic). in north america, the reality is we're bombarded with messages that we have to be thin and dress right to be accepted. the world is strange that way.
