the commodification of underground or "alternative" culture makes me sick. went into the city the other day to window shop for some figurines and shit..and god was that a fucking mistake...if i see one more fucking 13 yo wearing a fucking misfits/ramones/iron maiden t-shirt i swear im going to kill...
you know i went into one of those little stoopid novelty gift stores or whatever they are...and what do you know.. they have a whole rack of "alternative culture clothing"... right near the front..im sure because they know it attracts the little goth/punk wannabe slut 15 yo's...
on that note..i was walking in front of a gaggle of three of the above mentioned types listening to this horrible conversation about boys and shopping and teen consumerism in general when it occurred to me that these are the same types of kids that wore ripped jeans and kurt cobain t-shirts when nirvana became big again...the same types of kids that bought vinyl versions of the latest album because its viewed as old-skool...the same types of punks who wear $200 punk-esque shoes and wont go hedgecore with me "incase they scatch them up" (true story...and if you dont know what hedgecore is then you missed a punk milestone..op ivy you bastards!! lol..)...but seriously...maybe im bitter in my old age..but i was alone most of my life with the music and style i loved.. to the point when you saw someone else wearing a hardcore/metal shirt you would feel compelled to go and talk to them because its been so long since you saw someone else who felt the same way...
now im not saying im all fucking old-skool or getting self righteous...but the culture is getting so weak..maybe im the only one who sees it..i just cant wait till the focus shifts again and our scene is left to the people who really appreciate it...not the fashion/lifestyle whores.
hmm..ok..now that thats out...i really feel like ive repeated myself...maybe i ranted this out once before...hmmm..oh well....i hope it all makes sense...because proof reading is for suckers...lmfao.
