yeah so i just got back from the sonic youth concert. this is going to be a ramble, just trying to get this down before i forget. first off, the opening band, wolf eyes, nearly destroyed my hearing, sheer electronic noise, it was interesting, but i think it would be better listening to it at home instead of standing right next to the speaker. sonic youth was great the setlist not in order was every song off the murray street album plus shadow of a doubt, eric's trip, 100%, drunken butterfly, silver rocket, (so happy they played that not expected at all), candle, (another highpoint of the night), and for a final song they played one of my favorites, nature scene, you know for saying they werent going to play any of the old stuff this tour they sure played a lot of it. the worst part of the show standing behind a guy, you know those guys the guys that the last thing you want to do is stand behind them at a concert, he had a camcorder which he luckily had to turn off and he kept yelling to the band, for example " hey lee LEEE! can you give the camera a thumbs up or just wave?!?!?" lee replied with a stare and small snicker, thank you lee ranaldo for not instigating him to do anything else. i hate fans, i mean i am a fan of their music and some of their other work, but damn they are human. lee was amazing, the only thing i complain about is that he only did sang one of his songs, eric's trip, i love his lyrics. kim was great on the mic, guitar, and bass, jim o'rourke played excellent i loved the sounds he made with the guitar cable by rubbing it against the amp and other guitars, thurston was amazing on mic and guitars and he played bass on nature scene, and steve, well steve played drums, steve played them great but i dont know that much about playing drums so i cant say much about it. another thing i wore my meg lee chin shirt to the concert, she must be popular with the employees of the metro. lots of them commented on it, and i learned from the security guard that she is playing at the double door in sept. i am there, unless its 21 & over. fun night a few assholes but it was worth it. and i got the new lee ranaldo lp there. now i just have to set up my record player to listen to it. yep. bye.
