Hello all and Happy New Year!
So the end of 2011 brings with it, of course, some reflection on the last year, both good and bad. My 2011 started off very rough. I pulled my daughter out of a bad situation and got her into drug rehab. She is now clean and sober and doing well with a new job and new lease on life. My son was traveling around the country for a crappy job that he didn't enjoy and that took him away from his family and girlfriend for months at a time. He is now back home with me and going back to college in a couple weeks. I got myself out of a very bad marriage and have finally found MYSELF again. I met a wonderful woman and have finally begun to enjoy sharing my time with someone special. 2011 ended on a high note that I hope to continue through 2012.
My sweet Amber came to vist this past week. Here are some pics from our adventures. She has wanted to get a tattoo of a Peace Tree for many years and has had 7 artists make sketches for her, but none of them turned out like she wanted. I gave her ideas to my friend and tattoo artist Jimmy and asked him to come up with something for her as a Christmas present from me. She wanted a tree with the roots of the tree making a peace sign, but wasn't sure what she wanted for the top of the tree. I suggested to Jimmy that the top of the tree show leaves in different stages of the seasons. He had us over to his home studio the day after she arrived in Chicago and she absolutely loved his sketch. What followed was a monster 11 hour tattoo session!
Final outline and shading
Still lots more to do, but I think it looks beautiful so far. And she loves it which is what matters most.
The next day we watched movies and I introduced her to Chicago deep dish pizza then we headed into the city the following day and I showed her the sights. We saw Blue Man Group and then headed to one of my favorite blues clubs called Kingston Mines.
On Friday I took her to meet my friends at Bugaboo Tattoo where Jimmy works and I decided to have Becky do some work on me. I have wanted to get my nipples pierced for some time, but have to admit I'm a big chicken.
I whined like a little kid, but we got the job done!
NYE we spent with some of my friends from work. Mary and Jason host an annual NYE costume party and this year's theme was "The Wild, Wild West". It wasn't a big crowd this year, but it was a lot of fun. There were a lot of saloon girls and cowboys and quite a lot of "firewater" to go around!
And a perfect end to 2011
Sadly Amber went back home yesterday, but we had a wonderful week together and a perfect beginning of the new year.
I hope you all find what you seek this year and hope your 2012 is a good one. Until next time...
Peace!
